An ABC News crew went to the Texas town of Laguna Heights, which had been severely damaged by a deadly tornado that resulted in one person’s death and several injuries.
While inspecting the wreckage, the news team unexpectedly became the heroes of the story when they discovered a trapped survivor. Two members of the security detail heard animal cries coming from beneath a home and contacted animal control. However, sound technician Jim Gower didn’t waste any time and quickly grabbed a shovel to rescue the trapped pup.

With great effort, Jim dug out the scared little dog, and its head soon emerged from the dirt. After rescuing the trapped dog, the news crew petted and calmed it down, and one of the members even offered it a Slim Jim. The dog was attracted to the meat stick and managed to come out from under the house to safety.
Amidst the devastation of the deadly tornado that led to one person’s death, 11 hospitalizations, and property damage, the story of everyday people going out of their way to save the life of an animal is heartening.

According to ABC News, the disaster destroyed several homes and structures, including Robert Flores’s house, who lost his life when a trailer house landed on his home.
The team’s effort in rescuing the adorable dog was commendable, and it was heartwarming to see the little pup grateful for the help after being trapped and scared.
